A few weeks ago I was surprised by dear Jessica of NADesign who send me a beautiful print “Rietpluim” in my favorite colour Soft Pink. NADesign is a home accessory brand with handmade products such as plaids, pillows, lamps, bowls and candlesticks. NADesign loves honest materials with a no-nonsense feeling.

NADesign designed a new poster collection with Flowers and Herbs. Just take a look at the webshop and discover “Papaver” and “Kruid” in a beautiful color scheme, with beautiful green and the apantone colour of the year Coral.

“Papaver” in ochre is high on my wishlist to complete my little Art Wall...

Een paar weken geleden werd ik verrast door mijn Jessica van NADesign die me een mooie print "Rietpluim" stuurde in mijn favoriete kleur Soft Pink. NADesign is een woonaccessoire merk met handgemaakte producten, zoals plaids, kussens, lampen, schalen en kandelaars. NADesign houdt van eerlijke materialen met een no-nonsense gevoel.

NADesign ontwierp een nieuwe postercollectie met bloemen en kruiden. Kijk maar eens naar de webshop en ontdek "Papaver" en "Kruid" in een prachtig kleurenschema, met prachtig groen en de Pantone kleur van het jaar Living Coral.

"Papaver" in oker staat hoog op mijn verlanglijstje om mijn kleine Art Wall te voltooien ...

¡Little Piece of Art: The Eye of the Beholder by Anna Surie!

If you like design and are so lucky to live in The Hague, it’s great to enjoy our annual Festival Designkwartier in June. For five years this festival is organised and every year I get surprised by nice and inspiring designers, who show their collections in beautiful locations at the Zeeheldenkwartier.

This year, the first visit turned out to be the best, because I visited the charming Anna Surie with her beautiful wallpaper & cushions of The Eye of the Beholder collection. Bright and shiny colours with elegant flowers combined with... waste. With this collection, Anna wants to show is that how beautiful nature is, there is always a threat of us leaving our garbage. Combined with beautiful wallpaper with flowers or plastic bottles, garage of Anna’s home was a real highlight of the festival to me. Next to that Anna is a very vivid, kind and inspiring women.

I am still thinking which cushion I like best: the pink cushion with flowers and plastic, the green flip-flop with the flowers, the pink fish and plastic or the lilac cushion with the flowers and a fallen pot of paint. How great it would be to have a little piece of this beautiful art at my home...

I am in love....

Als je van design houdt en je woont in Den Haag, dan is het een feestje om van het jaarlijkse Festival Designkwartier te genieten in juni. Dit jaar werd het voor de vijfde keer georganiseerd en ieder jaar word ik wee verrast door leuke en inspirerende ontwerpers die hun collecties op prachtige locaties in het Zeeheldenkwartier laten zien. Dit jaar was mijn eerste bezoek het beste, omdat ik de charmante AnnaSurie bezocht met haar prachtige behang en kussen collectie The Eye of the Beholder. Frisse en felle kleuren met prachtige aquarellen van elegante bloemen gecombineerd met... afval. Anna wil ons laten zien dat hoe mooi de natuur ook is, wij deze steeds bedreigen door os afval te laten slingeren. In combinatie met het behang met bloemen en plastic flessen, was dit echt een hoogtepunt van het festival voor mij. En bovendien is Anna een super levendige, originele en inspirerende dame. Ik kan maar niet kiezen welk kussen ik het mooiste vind: het roze kussen met bloemen en plastic, de groene met flip-flop en bloemen, de roze vis met plastic of de lila mat bloemen en een omgevallen pot verf. Wat zou het leuk zijn zo’n kunstwerkje in huis te hebben.... Als je blij wordt van deze foto’s vergeet dan niet om even in Anna’s shop te kijken. Naast de kussens, kan Anna ook een van haar ontwerpen op je favoriete (jeans) jasje maken, zoals je hier op Instagram kunt zien. Ik ben verliefd....

Of course you know them, the beautiful dresses worn by Queen Máxima at the inauguration of her husband as a king, birthday festivities, Prinsjesdag or state banquets. Beautiful designs and brilliant embroidery make these dresses, designed by Jan Taminiau, like a fairytale.

Last week I had to visit Utrecht, so I decided to take a look at theTaminau exhibition at the Centraal Museum. How surprised I was! Queen Máxima was very generous, to lean a great amount of dresses to this exhibition, but there is so much more worth seeing.

I really got impressed by all the embroidery Jan Taminiau creates. At first sight a dress might look like lace, but turns out te be made of thousands little glass beads. Next to that the way he adds several layers of different cloth to each other, embroiders them and than puts small layers away is really impressive. Every dress tells its own story and is filled with beautiful details.

Think I have to get back again, to discover more of the hidden surprises...

Natuurlijk ken je de prachtige jurken van Koningin Máxima, gedragen bij de inhuldiging van haar man als koning, verjaardagsfeesten, Prinsjesdag of staatsbanketten. Verfijnde ontwerpen en bijzonder borduurwerk maken van deze jurken, ontworpen door Jan Taminiau, echte sprookjes. Afgelopen week moest ik in Utrecht zijn, dus ik besloot ook om een kaartje te reserveren en de tentoonstelling in het Centraal Museum te bekijken. Wat werd ik verrast! Koningin Máxima heeft heel veel jurken uit haar verzameling uitgeleend , maar er is zoveel meer moois te ontdekken! Ik ben echt heel erg onder de indruk van al het prachtige borduurwerk dat Jan Taminiau maakt. Op het eerste gezicht kan het lijken of het een jurk van kant is, maar als je dichterbij komt zie je dat het gemaakt is van duizenden glaskraaltjes. Daarnaast gebruikt Jan ook regelmatig verschillende lagen stof over elkaar heen, die hij dan borduurt en waarvan lagen weggeknipt worden. Super indrukwekkend! Iedere jurk vertelt haar eigen verhaal en heeft heel veel mooie details. Ik denk dat ik nog maar een keer terug moet gaan, om nog meer verborgen verrassingen te ontdekken....

¡Little piece of art: Plants 'n Walls by Sanne de la Fosse!

A few weeks ago I went to drink some coffee in a new concept store in The Hague. Next to good coffee at a beautiful location, I was surprised by beautiful pictures which were shown there. They were made by a very talented student of the Royal Art Academie in The Hague: Sannede la Fosse!

I immediately fell in love with the beautiful Plants 'n Wall picture. So I contacted Sanne, and the beautiful picture of the greenhouse (first one) is on its way to my home. How I like this collection! Mysterious green plants in a beautiful vintage glasshouse in Ghent. Especially because they are analogue pictures. How great that someone chooses to make analogue pictures again, and the ones Sanne makes are great! At her website you can find more beautiful series like the Ordelliness series, and an inspiring blog about plants and vegan food.

But also Sanne's Instagram account gives lots of beautiful inspiration. I really enjoyed her analogue trip to Sevilla. ¡One to follow!

Een paar weken geleden ging ik koffie drinken bij een nieuwe concept store in het centrum van Den Haag. Naast heerlijke koffie op een mooie locatie, werd ast door prachtige foto's aan de muur. Deze waren gemaakt door een zeer getalenteerde student van de Koninklijke Kunstacademie in Den Haag: Sanne de la Fosse! Ik viel meteen voor de prachtige foto uit de Plants 'n Wall serie. Ik nam contact op met Sanne en de mooie foto van de planten in de kas (de eerste) is onderweg naar mijn huis. Wat vind ik deze collectie mooi! Mysterieuze groene planten in een prachtige vintage kas in Gent. Helemaal omdat het analoge foto's zijn. Te leuk dat iemand nu weer kiest voor analoge foto's. Heerlijk aan het werk met rolletjes en verrast worden door het resultaat! Op haar website kun je meer mooie series vinden zoals de Ordeliness serie en haar inspirerende blog over planten en vegan voedsel. Maar ook Sanne's Instagram feed geeft veel mooie inspiratie. Haar analoge trip naar Sevilla vond ik super. ¡One to follow!

How I love beautiful styled portraits of inspiring women. Especially when they are made in South America.

In 2011, photographers Sarah Cooper & Nina Gorfer travelled through northwest Argentina and took amazing pictures for a beautiful book: I Know Not These My Hands.

Last spring these magical pictures of beautiful women were shown in the Fotografiska museum in Stockholm. Such a pity that I had to cancel my trip to Stockholm, because these beautiful pictures with their magical touch I would love to see in real.

Hopefully that one of our Dutch photography museums will get inspired by this beauty, and gets the exhibition to Holland.... until then, the book is highly on my wishlist...

Wat wordt ik blij van mooie gestylde portretten van inspirerende vrouwen. Helemaal als ze gemaakt zijn in Zuid Amerika. In 2011 reisden fotografen Sarah Cooper & Nina Gorfer door het noord-westen van Argentinië en maakten verbazingwekkende portretten voor het boek I Know Not These My Hands. Afgelopen lente werden deze magische portretten van prachtige vrouwen tentoongesteld in het Fotografiska Museum in Stockholm. Wat jammer dat ik mijn vakantie naar Stockholm moest cancellen, want wat wil ik deze mooie foto's met hun sprookjesachtige uitstraling graag in het echt wil,en zien. Hopelijk wordt een van de andermans fotografie musea geïnspireerd om deze bijzondere collectie naar Nederland te halen. Tot die tijd, staat het boek hoog op mijn wishlist...

By Pinterest, Instagram and other social media, Art is getting more easy to reach and more and more we are surrounded by Art.

Inspiration by Pinterest:

 Salvatore Ferragano, Voque magazine, Bobo Choses, Nura Design, Ellery Spring, Jean Arp

A lot of stylists, brands and shops get their inspiration from these social media and pin and collects a lot, making beautiful moodboards which are the inspiration for beautiful collections. Jean Arp is one of them, he inspires a lot of designers. His work can be recognized by the abstract, biomorphic curves, in in all aspects of his work. He is a real pioneer at the abstract Art and one of the founders of the Dada movement.

How happy I am that there is a exhibition of the work by Jean Arp in the Kröller- Müller museum. Right now I am so curious about the man behind all the beautiful Pinterest pictures. The exhibition ThePoetry of Forms, will last until September and is a real must visit, not only because of the beautiful sculpture garden!

Geen dag zonder de Inspiratie van Instagram! Terwijl ik van mijn vakantie aan het genieten ben, deelt  mijn lieve IG vriendin Monique (@Boemerang) haar inspiratie van Jean Arp!

Wat leuk om de eer te hebben een gastblog te mogen schrijven! Hiermee hoop ik de ¡Muy Bien! lezer een beetje warm te krijgen voor some ART!

Door Pinterest, Instagram en andere social media wordt kunst ongemerkt laagdrempeliger en krijgen wij steeds meer toegang tot en een inkijk in de kunst. Veel stylisten, merken en winkels halen hun inspiratie uit deze social media en pinnen en verzamelen erop los, zij creëren op die manier hun inspirerende moodboards resulterend in vaak prachtige collecties.

Jean Arp is zo’n kunstenaar die ik veelvuldig tegenkom en waardoor menig ontwerper geïnspireerd raakt. Zijn werk is herkenbaar aan de abstracte biomorfische vormen, zowel in zijn schilderijen als beelden, zijn kleurpalet, de gelaagdheid in zijn collages en houtsneden. Kortom een pionier op het gebied van abstracte kunst en een van de oprichters van de Dada stroming.

Wat was ik dan ook blij dat er momenteel een overzichtstentoonstelling is van het werk van Jean Arp in het Kröller-Müller museum. Ik ben inmiddels zo benieuwd naar de man achter al die mooie Pinterest plaatjes. De tentoonstelling, The Poetry of Forms duurt nog tot in september en is, zeker met een bezoek aan de mooie beeldentuin, zeer de moeite waard!
