¡Colour Crush #2!

Orange, Brown, Yellow gold, warm Caramel & Toffee tones and a touch of Pink is my favourite colour palette are the moment. So when the days getting shorter and grey, it was time to spice up my home. Not just one or two colours, but a mix of them all, combined with a touch of lilac and purple.

Flowers and velvet cushions are the most important items to make this Colour Pop in my home, but it gets even better when my new sweater and the pepernoten have matching colours...

Oranje, bruin, geel goud, warme karamel & toffee tonen en een vleugje roze is mijn favoriete kleurenpalet op dit moment. Toen de dagen korter en grijzer werden, was het tijd om mijn huis op te fleuren. Niet met een of twee van deze kleuren, maar een mix van allemaal, gecombineerd met een vleugje lila en paars.

Bloemen en fluwelen kussens zijn de belangrijkste items om deze Colour Pop bij mij thuis te maken, maar het wordt nog beter wanneer mijn nieuwe trui en de pepernoten bijpassende kleuren hebben....

How I love it that we add more and more colour to our homes!

Last April I finally painted the wall of my guest room In a Terra Pink colour (Soft Clay by VT Wonen). Mixed with the beautiful Tropical prints of May & Fay, it feels like a Holliday in my own home. A perfect place to dream away while having a siësta on a Summer afternoon.

Because I like this colourful rooms so much, from now I will post them frequently at ¡Muy Bien!

Wat ben ik blij dat er steeds meer kleur te zien is in onze huizen! Eind april schilderde ik eindelijk de muur van mijn logeerkamer in een Terra - Roze kleur (Soft Clay van VT Wonen). Gecombineerd met de mooie tropische prints van May & Fay, voelt het als vakantie in mijn eigen huis. Een perfecte plek om even weg te dromen tijdens een siësta op een zomerse middag. Omdat ik dit soort kleurrijke huizen zo fijn vind, zal ik vanaf nu regelmatig wat kleur inspiratie delen op ¡Muy Bien!. One of the most inspiring things is looking inside houses. Luckily we have lots of interior & lifestyle magazines, inspiring blogs and feeds at Instagram where you can get a lot of interior inspiration. So how great is it when you are asked for a fotoshoot inside your own home to inspire others!

Dear Sanne of Style by Sanne, who lives just two streets from my home, came by to make these beautiful pictures! How nice to see your home through the eyes of someone else. Things which are usual to me, became more special, because she saw them at a different sight. Like the embroidered chair of my grandmother. When I got it from my mum I wasn’t that happy with this chair, because I thought my home would look to classic. But now it’s a real eycatcher.

Think one of the most important things to create a warm Home is the use of plants and bringing in souvenirs form foreign travels. Sometimes I feel like a nomad when I carry all the stuff with me, but how happy I am when I can place them in my home. For me the best places to buy special souvenirs are local markets, super markets and even a hardwarestore, but I also brought back a garden design lamp from Copenhagen.

Een van de meest inspirerende dingen is binnenkijken bij een ander thuis. Gelukkig kunnen we ons hart ophalen aan als interieur & lifestyle magazines, inspirerende blogs en Instagram waar heel veel interieur vinden is. Maar hoe leuk is het dan als je gevraagd wordt een fotoshoot van je eigen huis te doen, om zo anderen te inspireren!

Lieve Sanne van Style by Sanne, die maar twee straten van mij af blijkt te wonen, kwam langs om deze prachtige foto’s te maken! Wat super leuk om je huis door de ogen van iemand anders te zien. Dingen die voor mij heel gewoon zijn, werden ineens bijzonder, omdat Sanne ze op een hele andere manier zag. Bijvoorbeeld de geborduurde stoel van mijn oma. Toen ik deze van mijn moeder kreeg, wist ik niet of ik hier blij mee moest zijn, omdat ik het idee kreeg dat het veel te klassiek is. Maar het blijkt dus een echte eycatcher te zijn! Een van de belangrijkste dingen om je huis een echt thuis te laten zijn zijn planten en souvenirs die ik van mijn reizen meenam. Soms voel ik me echt een nomade als ik weer loop te slepen met allerlei spullen, maar iedere keer ben ik weer super blij als ik ze een plekje in mijn huis kan geven. De beste plekken voor mij om souvenirs te kopen, zijn markten, supermarkten en zelfs ijzerwinkels. Maar ooit nam ik ook een design lamp uit Kopenhagen mee. The Pom Pom blanket is a must have when the evenings are getting colder. But what is really my favourite is the beautiful leather pouf. I love the warm brown colour of the leather, which matches great with the beautiful white Morroccan table and Pom Pom blanket. Of course my favourite Tamegroute pottery can't be forgotten.

I think I will find myself frequently at this place. Just enjoying a good book at dark and cozy Autumn nights.

Wanneer de Indian Summer op zijn best is, met warme zonnige dagen, frisse ochtenden en donkere avonden, is het tijd om het thuis wat warmer te maken. Met de prachtige items van Riad Lifestyle kun je je huis een gezellige sfeer geven, net alsof je in een Riad woont. De Pom Pomdeken is een must have wanneer de avances kouder worden. Maar mijn favoriet is de leren poef. Ik vind de warm bruine kleur van het leer super mooi en deze staat geweldig bij het leuke witte Marokkaansetafeltje en de Pom Pom deken. Natuurlijk hoort daar ook mijn favoriete Tamegroute aardewerk bij. Ik denk dat ik de komende tijd heel vaak in dit hoekje te vinden ben. Lekker met een boek genieten van lange donkere herfstavonden.

Daddy, please get the Moon for me...

This is the name of a book (by Eric Carle) I used to read a lot when I was working in a children's hospital. Since then, I am always inspired by interior accessories with planets and this will be my lucky year, since Planetarium is one of the upcoming trends for 2017. So how happy I was to discover the La Luna (moon) poster by DesignClaud.

How I like the beautiful color palette in each moon! The La Luna posters are printed on beautiful glossy paper and there are four different colour palettes. There is also a poster with the different moon phases.

DesignClaud can print every poster in different standaard paper sizes. Therefore it might be difficult to find a matching frame. But you can also do like I did: I bought a piece of wood which was sawed into the same measures as the Orange - Red La Luna and I sticked the poster to it with some washi tape (or you can use some glue spray). For the GreyLa Luna I used a vintage frame, which my mum bought at the thriftmarket at Queensday.

But when making pictures I discovered that the vintage frame matches great with the Orange - Red La Luna, since the grey wall gives it a beautiful passe-partout. So I think that my guest will be dreaming away under a Orange- Red moon from now....

Pappa, pak je de maan voor mij?

Dat is de titel van een prentenboek (van Eric Carle) dat ik veel las toen ik in een kinderziekenhuis werkte. Sindsdien ben ik altijd geïnspireerd door planeten als interieur accessoires en dit jaar heb ik geluk, want Planetarium is een van de opkomende trends voor 2017. Wat was ik blij toen ik de La Luna poster van DesignClaud ontdekte! Wat een prachtige kleurenpaletten hebben deze posters! De La Luna posters worden op mooi glimmend papier geprint en zijn er in 4 verschillende kleuren. Daarnaast is er nog een poster met de verschillende maanstanden. DesignClaud print iedere poster op verschillende (standaard papier) formaten. Daardoor kan het misschien lastig zijn een passende lijst te vinden. Maar je kunt dit misschien op dezelfde manier oplossen als ik deed: bij de houthandel liet ik voor de Oranje-Rode maan een plaatje hout op maat zagen. Ik plakte de poster met washi tape op het hout (maar je kunt natuurlijk ook lijm spray gebruiken). Voor de Grijze La Luna poster gebruikte ik een oude vintage lijst, due mijn moeder ooit voor me kocht op Koninginnedag. Maar toen ik de foto's voor dit blog maakte, merkte ik dat de Oranje-Rode La Luna poster ook heel mooi staat met de vintage lijst, omdat de grijze muur er een verrassend passe-partout aan geeft. Ik denk dat mijn logees vanaf nu onder een Oranje - Rode mogen dromen...

¡Lazy on a Sunny Sunday Afternoon!

After about 3,5 year of blogging I realised that I haven't shown to much of my garden at ¡Muy Bien!. Time to change that. On a sunny Sunday afternoon, a few weeks ago, I decided to change my garden a bit. Normally there are a table and some chairs at my garden, but I felt like having a siësta under my grapevines. My grapes at a sunny white painted concrete wall, were one of the reasons to buy my house with a citygarden. While it faces the south, I have a lot of sunshine out there and I have an extra living room during Summer times. Reading my magzines at this place, makes me think of changing the garden furniture into an old wooden bench with some beautiful kelim cushions and a hanging chair to have a holiday feeling at my garden....

Ik realiseerde me na ruim 3,5 jaar bloggen, dat mijn tuin niet al te veel te zien is geweest op ¡Muy Bien!. Hoog tijd om daar verandering in te brengen. Een paar weken geleden besloot ikop een zonnige zondagmiddag om de inrichting van de tuin een beetje te veranderen. Normaal gesproken staat er een eettafel met wat tuinstoelen in de tuin, maar ik had zin in een siësta onder de druiven in de tuin. De druiven, die tegen een zonnige wit betonnen muur groeien, waren ooit een van de redenen om mijn huis met een stadstuin te kopen. Gelegen op het zonnige zuiden, heb ik er zomers een extra woonkamer bij. Al tijdschriften lezend, bedacht ik me dat het misschien leuk is mijn tuinmeubilair te vervangen door een mooie oude houten stations lounge bank, met wat kelim kussens en een hangende stoel om altijd vakantiegevoel in mijn tuin te hebben....

Last week, I bought this beautiful presse papier and this inspired me to this month Urban Jungle Bloggers theme: ¡Plants & Glass! I bought some beautiful palms which reminds me of traveling to Morocco and strolling around the Palmeraie. I love to put plants in a glass planter, because in this way, you can see every detail and they look more stylish to me.

At an old wooden box I created my own Palmeraie. I added the Palmtree embroidery ring, designed by the talented Instantcrush.nl and my golden palmtree chandelier. With one of my favourite pictures of Annie Leibovitz, where glass is a main theme as well, it feels like a enjoying a holiday at home!

Ik heb iets met palmen de laatste tijd... 

Vorige week kocht ik deze mooie presse papier en die inspireerde me voor het Urban Jungle Bloggers thema van deze maand: ¡Plants & Glass! Dus kocht ik een paar mooie palmplanten die me meteen doen denken aan reizen naar Marokko en heerlijk door de Palmeraie te struinen. Ik hou ervan om planten in glazen potten te doen, omdat je zo de hele plant ziet en ze zo veel stylisher vind. Op een oude verhuiskist heb ik mijn eigen Palmeraie gemaakt. Ik combineerde ze met de super leuke nieuwe borduurring van de inspirerende Instantcrush.nl en mijn koperen palmboom kandelaar. Met een van mijn favoriete foto's van Annie Leibovitz, waar glas ook een hoofdrol in speelt, voelt het als vakantie in eigen huis! 

¡Urban Jungle Bloggers: Botancial Zoom!

Joining the Urban Jungle Bloggers, means a lot of green inspiration and discovering new beautiful plants. 
A lot of new plants entered my home since I joined the Urban Jungle Bloggers last year.

This month is special because the theme ¡Botanical Zoom! gives a whole new perspective on my plants, which are with me for years. My favourite Banana plant and Dracaena, I have for more than 20 years, so it was a great discovery give them a close look. And also my Livingstonia Rotundifolia looks special at this distance.

Meedoen aan de Urban Jungle Bloggers, geeft heel veel nieuwe groene inspiratie en daardoor ontdekte ik veel mooie, nieuwe planten. En er kwamen ook heel veel nieuwe planten mijn huis in, sinds ik verleden jaar startte met de Urban Jungle Bloggers. Door het thema van deze maand ¡Botanical Zoom! kreeg een hele nieuwe kijk op planten die ik soms al jaren in huis heb staan. Mijn favoriete Bananen plant en Dracaena heb ik al ruim 20 jaar, maar ze krijgen een heel ander uiterlijk als je ze van dichtbij bekijkt. Ook mijn Livingstonia Rotundifolia ziet er van dichtbij heel sociaal uit ¡Wat is de natuur toch mooi...!

¡Urban Jungle Bloggers: Jungle Animals!

When I heard about this months Urban Jungle Bloggers theme, it took me a while to get some inspiration. Because I don't have that much with animals. So I went looking around and then I discovered a lot of tropical animals in my home: because Birds are everywhere and I also have some other animals, as you can see here, here and here in some former Urban Jungle Bloggers posts.

So I took my tire parrot, which I found in a Surinam souvenir shop near the jungle and bought a new tropical plant to accompany him.

Toen ik hoorde wat het thema voor het Urban Jungle Bloggers van deze maand was, moest ik lang zoeken naar inspiratie. Ik heb niet zoveel met dieren. Groot was de verrassing toen ik heel veel tropische dieren in mijn huis ontdekte: want op alle kamers zijn wel tropische Vogels en andere dieren te vinden, zoals je hier, hier en hier in eerder Urban Jungle blogs kunt zien. Voor deze post besloot ik mijn autobanden papegaai, ooit gekocht in een Surinaamse souvenir winkel, vlak bij de jungle en kocht een nieuwe tropische plant om hem gezelschap te houden. Tropische sfeer op een grijze en regenachtige Hollandse dag!
