 That Green plants matches with almost everything in every location, shows these beautiful pictures of SIX in Milan! In the city centre you can find this Gallery, Bistro an Design Boutique where green plants bring painted grey brick walls to life. Next to green plants, wood and rattan gives this place its warm and sophisticated atmosphere. A really magical place... And must visit if you are going to the Salone del Mobile in April.

Dat groene planten overal mooi bij staan, op iedere locatie, bewijzen deze prachtige beelden van SIX in Milaan. In het centrum van de stad vind je deze Galerie, Bistro en Design Boutique. Hier brengen groene planten de grijs geverfde stenen muren tot leven. Naast groene planten, brengen hout en rotan warmte en een stijlvolle sfeer. Echt een magische plek... En een must visit, mocht je naar de Salone del Mobile gaan in april! Ga je daar niet naartoe, neem dan hier een kijkje voor meer beelden van dit fantastische Greenterior!

Every day I think back of my trip to Milano last month. I 've seen so much beautiful design (like you can see here and here), so there is a lot to remember.. On our last day we visited Ventura Lambrate where we discovered a lot of upcoming designers from all over the world.

As you know I love the authentic designs of the Arabian countries, full of craftsmanship. So I liked the beautiful Dual Bowls from Kather Alsaffar from Saffar crafts very much. She already designed beautifulmetal bowls and table ware. At the Milano Designweek, she showed her latest work Duals Bowls. Beautiful handmade bowls with a combination of metals in brass, copper or antimony. She collaborated with traditional Kuweitian craftsmans to produce these bowls. At the Kickstarter, you can see how the bowls are made. Every bowl has a different pattern because the fluid metals finds their own way.

I really hope the work of Saffar crafts will be discovered in The Netherlands!

Iedere dag denk ik wel even terug aan mijn reis nar Milaan van vorige maand. Ik heb zo veel prachtig design gezien (zoals je hier en hier kunt zien), daar kun je wel even van nagenieten. Op onze laatste dag bezochten we Ventura Lambrate, waar vooral veel jonge designers van over de hele wereld hun werk lieten zien. Zoals je weet ben ik dol op design uit de Arabische landen, met veel ambachtelijke handwerk. Ik werd dus meteen geïnspireerd door de bijzondere Dual Bowls van Kather Alsaffar van Saffar crafts. Al eerder ontwierp ze prachtige metalenschalen en servies. Tijdens de Designweek in Milaan liet ze haar nieuwste project zien: Dual Bowls. Prachtige gegoten metalen schalen gemaakt van koper, messing en aluminium. Om deze komen te maken, werkte ze samen met ambachtslieden uit Kuwait. In het filmpje op de Kickstarter kun je zien hoe de bowls gemaakt worden. Omdat het metaal zijn eigen weg kiest bij het gieten, hebben alle bowls een verschillend patroon. Hopelijk zijn deze schalen ook straks in Nederland te koop zijn!

One of the nicest things about Salone fel Mobile, Milanos Designweek, is that design is combined with beautiful locations. This year VenturaProjects, opened Ventura Centrale, at beautiful warehouses under the rails, near Milano Centrale station.

Lots of beautiful design was presented, but what really caught my eye was the work of the Dutch designers: Maarten Baas and Paul Heijnen.

With "May I have your attention Please?" Maarten Baas presented beautiful colored minimalistic chars surrounded by whispering voices. Amazing how great the colors of the chairs, matches with the weathered industrial walls of the warehouses.

Another great piece of design, love and craftsmanship is the Globe lamp by Paul Heijnen. Little pieces of wood, with a kind of Arabic pattern, were used to created this beautiful light. Even great with the patina of the walls. There were also some details and sketched shown about this unique work.

I love it when design matches so great with its background, just like it has always been there. Two of the highlights of the Salone deal Mobile to me!

Een van de allerleukste dingen van de Salone del Mobile, De designweek in Milaan, is dat design gepresenteerd wordt op geweldige locaties. Dit jaar opende het Nederlandse Ventura Projects, Ventura Centrale in de prachtige pakhuizen onder de treinreis, vlakbij het Centraal Station van Milaan. In deze pakhuizen werd prachtig design gepresenteerd, maar het werk van Dutch Designers Maarten Baas en Paul Heijnen. Met "May I have your attention, Please? presenteerde Maarten Baas prachtige gekleurde minimalistische stoelen, die omringd door luidsprekers met fluisterende stemmen. Geweldig hoe mooi de kleuren van de stoelen precies combineren met de kleuren van de muren van de pakhuizen.

Een ander geweldig staaltje design, liefde en ambacht is de Globe lamp van Paul Heijnen. Kleine stukjes houd, in stervorm gezaagd, vormen een mooi Arabisch patroon in de in deze geweldige lamp. Ook geweldig in combinatie met de mooie verweerde muren van de pakhuizen. In een voormalige kantoorruimte waren details en ontwerptekeningen van deze design parel te zien. Geweldig om te zien hoe design en de ruimte samensmelten tot een prachtig geheel. Twee van de hoogte punten van de Salone del Mobile voor mij!

Last week one of my travel dreams became reality: I went to the Salone del Mobile, the Designweek of Milano!

Though it's impossible to see everything I enjoyed lots of beautiful design in very special places like: Zona Tortona, Rossana Orlandi, Masterly, Ventura Centrale, Brera and Ventura Lambrate. So much inspiration and nice designs.... Here are just some snapshots, where beautiful design meets the lovely buildings of Milano!

And I am sure there will be more the coming weeks...

Verleden week ging een van mijn langgekoesterde reiswekker in vervulling: ik bezocht de Salone del Mobile, de designweek in Milaan! Het is echt onmogelijk om al het moois te zien, maar wat heb ik genoten van het design in Zona Tortona, bij Rosanna Orlandi, Masterly, Ventura Centrale, Brera and Ventura Lambrate. Zoveel inspiratie en zoveel geweldige ontwerpen.... Hier zijn wat snapshots, waar mooi design de prachtige gebouwen van Milaan ontmoet! En natuurlijk zul je de komende weken meer op mijn blog zien...

I like to stay in old houses with their characteristics details. Beautiful ceilings, brick walls, a fireplace and nice wooden floors... But sometimes they need to be renovated and restyled...

How lucky you are if Archiplan Studio renovaties your home. How I love the apartment in Mantua, Italy, which was renovated by them. A beautiful herringbone floor, decorated with light wooden furniture, a brick wall and copper details... 

Simplicity at its best!

Ik vind het het heerlijk om in oude huizen te verblijven. Mooie plafonds, stenen muren, een schouw en een fijne houten vloer... Maar soms moeten ze goed verbouwd en gerestyled worden... Wat een geluksvogel ben je als Archiplan Studio je huis onder handen neemt. Ik ben echte helemaal verliefd of het appartement in Mantua, Italië, dat door hen gerenoveerd werd. Een prachtige visgraat vloer, meubels van licht hout, een stenen muur en kopen details... Eenvoud op zijn best! 

¡Streets of Palermo!

Op een grijze dag als vandaag is niets leuker dan terug te kijken naar vakantiefoto's. Wat heb ik genoten van Sicilië! Vooral Palermo vond ik geweldig. Naast heerlijk eten en lekkere Nero D'Avolo wijn, genieten van heerlijke espresso op een terrasje terwijl we naar een Siciliaanse bruiloft in de kerk er tegenover keken, heb ik genoten van het slenteren door de straten waar op iedere hoek wel iets moois te vinden is.

On a grey day like today, it is good to look at my holiday pictures. How I enjoyed my stay at Sicily! I loved Palermo. Next to delicious food and good Nero D'Avolo wine, enjoying a good espresso while watching a Sicilian wedding in the church in front of the terrace, I liked it very much to stroll along the beautiful streets of Palermo where there is beauty at every corner. ENJOY!
