For my birthday, earlier this month, Riad Lifestyle surprised me with this beautiful Tamegroute bowl. You might know I have a crush to this beautiful Moroccan ceramic, as you can see here. So RiadLifestyle couldn't make me happier to add another beautiful piece of ceramic to my collection.

Yesterday I bought some flowers and one of them unfortunately broke. This broken flower makes a great still-life in my kitchen in this beautiful bowl filled with lychees and some more weathered greens....

Voor mijn verjaardag, eerder deze maand, werd ik door Riad Lifestyle verrast met deze prachtige Tamegroute kom. Waarschijnlijk weet je al dat ik dol ben op het prachtige Marrokkaanse groene keramiek, zoals je hier kunt zien. Riad Lifestyle kon me dus niet blijer maken met deze beauty voor mijn kleine verzameling. Gisteren kocht ik bloemen en helaas brak er een af. Deze bloem pastorie t in de Tamegroute kom met lychees, samen met nig wat verweerd groen een geweldig stilleven....

¡Urban Jungle Bloggers: Plant Still Life “Desert”!

I am always looking forward to make my Urban Jungle Bloggers post. It always means buying some new plants and some re-styling at home. But this month it took me a while untill I was inspired by this months theme Plant Still Life "Desert". The fist thing which came to my mind when I read about this the a were cacti, the only plants I really don't like...

Luckily I discovered this beautiful Mikado plant and a succulent at Urban Jungle heaven: Groene Vingers Delft. But still the inspiration for the still life wouldn't come.. Funny if you know that my home is painted in sandy white tones.

Creativity means looking at things in a different way and sometimes it's just before your eyes. When I saw Floortje Dessing travelling to Syria to visit Palmyra, suddenly my inspiration was found.

On my travels to Morocco, Jordan and Syria, I visited some beautiful deserts. I also went to Palmyra, which is in the middle of the dessert and bought there my beautiful hand carved coffee can. It's always in my kitchen and reminds me of the hospitality and lots of dates which I saw there. So I added some Morrocan souvenirs and even found my hand braided camel, which I bought somewhere en route through Morocco, and there is my Desert Still Life! This Still Life makes me feeling like traveling to the desert again, so Morocco is on my travel wishlist again.

Iedere maand kijk ik er weer naar uit om mijn Urban Jungle Bloggers post te maken. Dat betekent namelijk ieder maand wat nieuwe planten kopen en een stukje van mijn huis restylen. Maar deze maand kostte me het een tijdje voor ik geïnspireerd werd door het thema van deze maand: Plant Still Life "Desert". Het enige dat steeds bij me opkwam als ik aan het thema dacht waren cactussen en als er een plant is waar ik echt helemaal niets mee heb.... Gelukkig vond ik een prachtig Mikado plantje bij Urban Jungle heaven: Groene VingersDelft. Maar nog steeds wilde de inspiratie voor het stil leven maar niet komen... Grappig als je weet dat mij huis geschilderd is in zandwitten. Creativiteit betekent op een aandreef manier ergens naar kijken en soms is die inspiratie recht voor je neus. Toen ik de documentaire van Floortje Dessing naar Syrië zag, begin de inspiratie ineens te borrelen. Op mijn reizen naar Marokko, Jordanië en Syrië, bezocht ik prachtige woestijnen. Net als Floortje was ik in Palmyra, een stad die midden in de woestijn ligt en daar kocht ik min prachtige handversierde koffiekan. De kan staat in mijn keuken en altijd als ik de kan zie, moet ik denken aan de enorme gastvrijheid van de mensen in Palmyra en alle dadels die ik er at. Wat Marokkaanse souvenirs en mijn handgevlochten kameel, die ik ergens onderweg in Marokko kocht, en daar was het Desert Still Life! Als ik dit stilleven zie wil ik weer heel graag een reisje naar de woestijn maken, dus Marokko staat alweer op mijn reis wishlist!

¡Sunday Styling: Riad Lifestyle!

A sunny Sunday is always good for some re-styling at home!

Inspired by the beautiful items of Riad Lifestyle, and my love for authentic Morrocan handicraft, I decided to redecorate my guest room because it's the perfect place to show my new beautiful Morrocan leather bag. Some palms and embroided cushions and my guest room feels like a room in a Morroccan Riad.

When I saw the inspiring Riad Lifestyle site, it was love at first sight. Not only the unique, vintage Berber kelim cushions, Ben Ouarain carpets, the pompon blankets and Handira weddingblankets are beautiful, but there are also a lot must haves like beautiful bags and jewellery.

Safae and Imane, two inspiring, positive Dutch Morrocan sisters who owns Riad Lifestyle, brings us a lot of beautiful handicrafted Morrocan designs which brighten your life! And next to that they have an inspiring Instagram feed. I am a fan!

Een zonnige zondagmiddag is altijd goed om wat re-styling in huis te doen! Geïnspireerd door de mooie items van Riad Lifestyle en mijn voorliefde voor authentieke Marokkaans vakmanschap, besloot ik mijn logeerkamer te veranderen omdat het de perfecte plek is om mijn mooie nieuwe Marokkaanse leren tas in de spotlights te zetten. Wat palm planten en geborduurde kussens en mijn logeerkamer ziet eruit als een kamer in een Marokkaanse Riad. Toen ik de inspirerende RiadLifestyle site zag, was dat liefde erop het eerste gezicht. Niet alleen vanwege de unieke vintage Berber kelim kussens, Ben Ouaraintapijten, de pompom dekens en Handira trouwkleden zijn super mooi, maar er zijn ook heel veel must haves zoals mooie tassen en sieraden. Safae en Imane, twee inspirerende, positieve Nederlandse Marokkaanse zussen, zijn de eigenaars van Riad Lifestyle en brengen prachtige Marokkaanse handgemaakte ontwerpen naar Nederland waar je vrolijk van wordt! En daarnaast hebben ze ook een inspirerende Instagram feed. Ik ben fan! 

¡Ceramic Crush #5: Tamegroute pottery!

Three years ago I went to Morocco and bought a beautiful green Tamegroute Machatiya (plate) in the village of Tamegroute in the south of Morocco. I carried it carefully back home and was so proud of it! But only a few weeks afterwards someone broke it... I never could throw the pieces away..

I love the beautiful green colour glaze of the handmade pottery, which is made of a mix of copper manganese and silicon. Because they put them stacked in the earth, it has some little imperfections and every piece is different.

With al the greens in my home, I think I have to get back to Morocco and buy some new ones... (Or just order some at the beautiful CouleurLocale webshop)

Ik heb iets met dit mooie groene Marokkaanse keramiek... Drie jaar geleden kocht ik een prachtige groen Tamegroute Machatiya (schaal op een voet) in het dorpje Tamagroute, ergens in het zuiden van Marokko. Heel voorzichtig reisde de schaal mee naar huis en ik was er zo blij mee! Maar helaas ...na een paar weken brak iemand de schaal... ik heb de stukken nog steeds niet weg kunnen gooien.. Ik ben weg van de prachtige groene glazuur laag van het aardewerk, dat gemaakt is van een mix van koper, mangaan en silicium. Tijdens het bakken wordt alles op elkaar gestapeld in de aarde, wat kleine oneffenheden geeft waardoor iedere stuk weer uniek is. Met al het groen in mijn huis, denk ik dat ik maar eens terug moet naar Marokko om wat nieuwe schalen te kopen... (Of als dat te lang duurt toch maar iets bestellen bij de prachtige Couleur Locale webshop)

¡Tile addiction: Handmade tiles by Tine K!

In a week I will be on my way to Lisbon. Since I am a real tile addict, I am looking forward to see the houses with all the beautiful azulejos. Actually I love all kind of tiles, but these handmade Morrocan tiles in beautiful colors of the Tine K collection, are my favourites. There are several different patterns and colors in the collection of Tine K, but I like these round ones the most, especially the brown and pink ones.. Seems like pink is becoming a favourite colour... Still dreaming of a Moroccanpink wall which would match great to these beauties...

Over een week ga ik heerlijk voor een paar dagen naar Lissabon. Omdat ik echt dol op tegels ben, kijk ik nu al uit naar de mooie azulejos waarmee de huizen gedecoreerd zijn. Eigenlijk vind ik alle tegels mooi, maar deze handgemaakte Marokkaanse tegels van Tine K,  in mooie pastel kleuren zijn mijn favorieten. Er zijn verschillende patronen in de collectie van Tine K, maar deze tegels met het ronde motief, vooral in de combinatie bruin - roze, vind ik het mooiste. Het begint erop te lijken dat roze een favoriete kleur wordt... Ik droom stiekem nog steeds over een mooie Marokkaans roze muur, die echt geweldig zou staan bij deze beauties...

¡Still Life Sunday #9!

A good start for a Still Life Sunday, is to take a bath in your own Home Hamam. Although my bathroom is the only room in my home that needs to be rebuild (because of it awful tiles and interior), I am lucky to have a bath. So when I have saved enough to change my bathroom in a real home Hamam with beautiful Greys, wood and lovely tiles, this will be great inspiration!

Een manier om een Still Life Sunday te starten, is een bad nemen in je eigen Home Hamam. Mijn badkamer is de enige ruimte in huis die nog eens een flinke verbouwing moet ondergaan (vanwege de lelijke tegels en meubilair), maar gelukkig zit er wel een bad in. Wanneer ik genoeg gespaard heb om mijn badkamer in een echte Home Hamam te veranderen, met grijstinten, hout en mooie tegels, is dit geweldige inspiratie!

Woensdag ging ik sinds jaren weer eens naar de VT Wonen & Designbeurs. Altijd heerlijk een dagje inspiratie opdoen en mooie foto's maken. Het thema van dit jaar is: "Oude meesters, Nieuwe helden". 

Mijn absolute favoriet van de beurs "Held" LisLoves met haar prachtige collectie Cuddle (Aw)some!

Cuddle (Aw)some bestaat uit een collectie prachtige (door "Oude Meesters" gemaakte) Marokkaanse dekens. De dekens zijn met de hand geweven en hebben prachtige kleuren, details en borduursels. Lis ontwerpt, koopt en verkoopt wat ze mooi vind en is er met deze dekens in geslaagd een prachtige unieke collectie met een verhaal samen te stellen... Heerlijk voor op de bank of je bed, om een lange herfst- of winteravond te genieten. Cuddling (knuffelen) is namelijk super gezond, het maakt je awesome en is goed voor je geluksgevoel..

It has been years ago since I went to the VT Wonen & Designbeurs. Wednesday I went to Amsterdam to enjoy a day filled with inspiration and taking pictures. This years theme is "Old masters, New heroes". My favourite this year: "Hero" LisLoves with her beautiful new collection: Cuddle (Aw)some! Cuddle (Aw)some is a collection of beautiful Morrocan blankets (made by "Old heroes"). The blankets are handwoven and have nice colors and patterns. Lies buys, produces and sells what she likes and with this collection of blankets she succeeded to create a unique collection with a story.... So good to have at your couch or bed to spend long Autumn and Winter nights. Cuddling is very healthy, it makes you awesome and is good for a feeling of happiness. ¡Perfect Pink!

Nooit gedacht dat ik blog zou maken met roze als hoofdkleur, maar de laatste weken heb ik ineens iets met roze... Niet het suikerzoete Barbie roze, maar verweerd roze.. Bij mijn favorieten op Pinterest zit ineens een hele verzameling foto's met Marokkaanse roze muren. En hoe gek kan het gaan, inmiddels overweeg ik zelfs een muur vergrijsd roze te gaan schilderen...
