¡Industrial Interior Must Haves at Søstrene Grene!

Er is altijd wel een reden om even bij Søstrene Grene binnen te lopen als je in Groningen bent, 

maar vanaf 6 maart a.s. een echte Must Visit!

Dan ligt namelijk de nieuwe interieurcollectie in de winkel.

Mooie lampen, bijzettafels en woonaccessoires heb je nooit genoeg. Zeker niet als ze een mix zijn van stoer industrieel met zachte vergrijsde kleuren en crispy wit: een nieuwe Scandinavische versie van de industriële look! In de collectie zijn kussenhoezen, metalen manden, lampen en vazen verkrijgbaar; alles voor een stoer en betaalbaar interieur.

There is always a reason to visit SøstreneGrene during a shopping day in Groningen, but from March, 6^th it is a real Must Visit because the new interior collecttion will be launched. You never have enough beautiful lamps, tables and interieur accessories. The collection is called “From Fabric to Trendy Home” and has a nice raw industrial style with soft and dusty colors and clean white – a new Nordic version of the industrial look! There are pillowcases, iron baskets, lamps and vases available; everything for a raw and affordable price. Are you curious how the collection looks like? Here you can see it. A good reason to plan a shopping day in Groningen, but how nice it would be when Søstrene Grene gets more shops in the Netherlands...

¡Breakfast at: Oberland Groningen!

Net buiten de stad vind je vaak de mooiste en inspirerendste plekken. Zo ook in Groningen, waar het Ebbingekwartier steeds meer leuke hotspots krijgt.

Sinds maart is het Ebbingekwartier een geweldig restaurant in een prachtig oud ketelhuis van een oude gasfabriek rijker: Oberland!

De keuken is nu eens niet Spaans, Aziatisch of Italiaans, maar verassend Duits. Voor het diner staan er Duitse seizoensgerechten op het menu, maar ik vind vooral het ontbijt en de heerlijke home baked taarten een aanrader.

De blikvanger is natuurlijk het mooie industriële pand, waar oud en nieuw design hand in hand gaan. De loods ligt aan het "stadsstrand" en op een zomerdag kun je hier in een strandstoel of aan een biertafel heerlijk genieten van een koel glas Most of bier.

En wat ik erg leuk vind: Frank Mulder (de horecaondernemer die Oberland startte) is tangodanser en er worden Argentijnse tangosalons in Oberland gehouden. Wat lijkt het me gaaf om in zo'n mooie ruimte van de tango te genieten!

Kortom: Must Visit als je in Groningen bent!

Just out of the city center, you mostly find lovely inspiring spots. Also in Groningen, where the Ebbingekwartier is a place full of nice hotspots. Since February this year there is a new restaurant in the Ebbingekwartier in a beautiful old shanty from an old gas factory: Oberland! Here you don't enjoy the Spanish, Azian or Italian kitchen, but the surprising German kitchen. For dinner you can have season dishes, but my favourites are the delicious breakfast and homemade cakes. Of course the eyecatcher is this beautiful industrial building, where old and new design meet each other. The shanty is next to the "city beach" and a sunny summer day you can enjoy a cold glass of Most or beer in one of the beach chairs or at the terrace. What I like: frank Mulder (the owner who is a Tango dancer as well), organizes Argentine Tango salons. How great it will be to dance in a beautiful location like this! So a real Must Visit if you are in Groningen!

Dit weekend was het weer tijd voor een weekendje Groningen. Sinds ik er een paar jaar geleden een half jaar studeerde en mijn beste vrienden er naar toe verhuisden, 1 van mijn favoriete steden. Groningen heeft heel veel leuke, unieke winkels en sinds anderhalf jaar de Walnut Mixstore. Een concept winkel met heel veel moois in de collectie van jonge, Nederlandse ontwerpers!

Sinds kort deelt Walnut Mixstore het pand met BYO sandwich pop up Café, dat op vrijdag en zaterdag geopend is. De inrichting is industrieel simpel, maar zo mooi!

Het concept is super leuk: neem je eigen broodje mee en eet het op onder het genot van een zelf gebrande kop koffie of muntthee en een goed gesprek met vrienden. Perfecte ontbijtplek dus!

Natuurlijk vertrok ik daarna niet met lege handen. Zo blij met mijn nieuwe tas!

This weekend I went to Groningen. A few years ago, I studied there for half a year and my best friends have moved to Groningen. Now it is one of my favourite cities. Groningen has a lot of nice, original and unique shops. In june 2011 opened an inspiring concept store: Walnut Mixstore. They have a collection of very nice and affordable Dutch design. Since a few weeks the BYO sandwich pop up Café opened in the Walnut Mixstore. I Love the furnishing: industrial simplicity, so beautiful! The concept is inspiring: Bring Your Own sandwich and buy a fresh cup of coffee or mint tea. Eat it while you meet your friends and have a good conversation with them. Perfect place for a Breakfast meet up! Of course I didn't left the store empty handed: so happy with my new bag! Ps. If you are not able to go to Groningen, Walnut also has a webshop.
