A few weeks ago I was surprised by dear Jessica of NADesign who send me a beautiful print “Rietpluim” in my favorite colour Soft Pink. NADesign is a home accessory brand with handmade products such as plaids, pillows, lamps, bowls and candlesticks. NADesign loves honest materials with a no-nonsense feeling.

NADesign designed a new poster collection with Flowers and Herbs. Just take a look at the webshop and discover “Papaver” and “Kruid” in a beautiful color scheme, with beautiful green and the apantone colour of the year Coral.

“Papaver” in ochre is high on my wishlist to complete my little Art Wall...

Een paar weken geleden werd ik verrast door mijn Jessica van NADesign die me een mooie print "Rietpluim" stuurde in mijn favoriete kleur Soft Pink. NADesign is een woonaccessoire merk met handgemaakte producten, zoals plaids, kussens, lampen, schalen en kandelaars. NADesign houdt van eerlijke materialen met een no-nonsense gevoel.

NADesign ontwierp een nieuwe postercollectie met bloemen en kruiden. Kijk maar eens naar de webshop en ontdek "Papaver" en "Kruid" in een prachtig kleurenschema, met prachtig groen en de Pantone kleur van het jaar Living Coral.

"Papaver" in oker staat hoog op mijn verlanglijstje om mijn kleine Art Wall te voltooien ...

¡Happiness is a Feel Good Tinne + Mia bag!

Bags... you never have enough of them.

Especially when they are beautiful coloured en every bag has a little quote... My favourite Feel Good bags are from Dutch Designers Tinne + Mia.

When I saw their new Cross Body FGBaggy bag in beautiful Almond vegan leather, I immediately fell in love.

“I hope you dance” is the quote on this lovely bag! Of course I danced when I received it. And “It feels very good inside” because the inner lining is the same colour as my coat.

Next to the cross body FGBaggy bags there are also large Feel Good bags and Feel Good backpacks in the collection. Dusty Coral and Orange Clay are my favourite Feel Good bags but if you prefer dark colours there is also Off Black, Auburn and Chinese blue. Now the only thing I hope is that there will be matching wallets in a next collection...

Tassen ... je hebt er nooit genoeg van. Vooral als ze mooi gekleurd zijn en elke tas een fijne quote heeft ... Mijn favoriete Feel Good tassen zijn van Dutch Designers Tinne + Mia.

Toen ik hun nieuwe Cross Body FGBaggy tas zag in mooi veganistisch leer in de kleur Almond, werd ik meteen verliefd.

"I hope you dance" is de quote op deze mooie tas! Natuurlijk danste ik toen ik deze beauty met de post kreeg. En het “Feels very good Inside” want de binnenvoering heeft dezelfde kleur als mijn jas.

Naast de Cross body FGBaggy tassen zijn er ook handige grote Feel Good tassen en Feel Good rugzakken in de collectie. Dusty Coral en Orange Clay zijn mijn favoriete Feel Good tassen, maar als je de voorkeur geeft aan donkere kleuren, is er ook Off Black, Auburn en Chinese Blue. En nu hoop ik dat er in een volgende collectie bijpassende portemonnees komen...

¡OBJECT Rotterdam!

When a design fair is held in a beautiful industrial building, my heart beats faster...

Just like in 2018, the HAKA building was the decor for OBJECT Rotterdam.

Six floors of beautiful design by (just graduated) designers, where art meets industrial design. And at the top floor, a beautiful view over Rotterdam.

Of course the designers are the main reason to visit OBJECT, but the HAKA building with it’s white painted spaces, small windows in steel and a beautiful tiled staircase with round windows, is a real industrial must visit!

With about 100 participants there is a lot of inspiration.

OBJECT acts as a platform for the latest limited editions and one-offs of well-known and promising young designers, who work in different design disciplines and with different materials. OBJECT is at the cutting edge of design, craft, fashion, architecture and art and the event is a must see for everyone who loves distinctive and applicable art.

With so much inspiration, it’s difficult to name all my favourites. I really liked the beautiful rugs by Maartje van den Noord, floral obejcts by Joris Kuipers, the fungi carpets by Lizan Freijssen, the colourfull materials by Envisions and the Cubo lamps by Joeny fits great in this industrial location.

But I was mostly touched by the work of some young designers: Rasmus Leseberg who makes beautiful objects of old furniture and glass, the Berber weaving by Rosa Smits and the Freeze framing objects by Manon Stoeltie were great discoveries.

But I really fell in love with the work of Babette Bervoets. Plastic garden chairs are changed into very special objects, but what I likes most are the colourful vase project paintings. Wish I had one at my home...

Wanneer een designbeurs wordt gehouden in een leegstaand industrieel gebouw, gaat mijn hart sneller kloppen...

Net als in 2018 was het prachtige HAKA gebouw het decor voor OBJECT Rotterdam.

Zes verdiepingen met prachtige ontwerpen van (net afgestudeerde) designers, waar kunst en industrieel design samenkomen. En op de bovenste verdieping, een prachtig uitzicht over Rotterdam.

Natuurlijk zijn de ontwerpers de belangrijkste reden om OBJECT te bezoeken, maar het HAKA gebouw met zijn wit geschilderde ruimtes, stalen ramen en een prachtige betegelde trappenhuis met ronde ramen, is een echte industriële must-visit!

OBJECT fungeert als platform voor de nieuwste limited editions en one-offs van bekende én veelbelovende beginnende designers die in verschillende ontwerpdisciplines en met verschillende materialen werken. OBJECT begeeft zich op het snijvlak van design, ambacht, mode, architectuur en kunst en het event is een must see voor iedereen die van onderscheidende én toepasbare kunst houdt.

Met zoveel design inspiratie is het moeilijk om al mijn favorieten te noemen. De prachtige tapijten van Maartje van den Noord, bloem objecten van Joris Kuipers, de schimmelkleden van Lizan Freijssen, de kleurige materialen van Envisions en de Cubo lampen van Joeny passen perfect in deze industriële locatie.

Maar ik werd vooral geraakt door het werk van een paar jonge ontwerpers: Rasmus Leseberg die prachtige objecten van oud meubilair en glas maakt, het Berber weefsel van Rosa Smits en de Freeze Frame objecten van Manon Stoeltie waren fijne ontdekkingen.

Ik werd echt verliefd op het werk van Babette Bervoets. Plastic tuinstoelen zijn veranderd in speciale objecten, maar wat ik het leukst vind, zijn de kleurrijke schilderijen van haar vaasproject. Ik zou willen dat er een bij mij aan de muur hangt... 

¡Little Piece of Art: The Eye of the Beholder by Anna Surie!

If you like design and are so lucky to live in The Hague, it’s great to enjoy our annual Festival Designkwartier in June. For five years this festival is organised and every year I get surprised by nice and inspiring designers, who show their collections in beautiful locations at the Zeeheldenkwartier.

This year, the first visit turned out to be the best, because I visited the charming Anna Surie with her beautiful wallpaper & cushions of The Eye of the Beholder collection. Bright and shiny colours with elegant flowers combined with... waste. With this collection, Anna wants to show is that how beautiful nature is, there is always a threat of us leaving our garbage. Combined with beautiful wallpaper with flowers or plastic bottles, garage of Anna’s home was a real highlight of the festival to me. Next to that Anna is a very vivid, kind and inspiring women.

I am still thinking which cushion I like best: the pink cushion with flowers and plastic, the green flip-flop with the flowers, the pink fish and plastic or the lilac cushion with the flowers and a fallen pot of paint. How great it would be to have a little piece of this beautiful art at my home...

I am in love....

Als je van design houdt en je woont in Den Haag, dan is het een feestje om van het jaarlijkse Festival Designkwartier te genieten in juni. Dit jaar werd het voor de vijfde keer georganiseerd en ieder jaar word ik wee verrast door leuke en inspirerende ontwerpers die hun collecties op prachtige locaties in het Zeeheldenkwartier laten zien. Dit jaar was mijn eerste bezoek het beste, omdat ik de charmante AnnaSurie bezocht met haar prachtige behang en kussen collectie The Eye of the Beholder. Frisse en felle kleuren met prachtige aquarellen van elegante bloemen gecombineerd met... afval. Anna wil ons laten zien dat hoe mooi de natuur ook is, wij deze steeds bedreigen door os afval te laten slingeren. In combinatie met het behang met bloemen en plastic flessen, was dit echt een hoogtepunt van het festival voor mij. En bovendien is Anna een super levendige, originele en inspirerende dame. Ik kan maar niet kiezen welk kussen ik het mooiste vind: het roze kussen met bloemen en plastic, de groene met flip-flop en bloemen, de roze vis met plastic of de lila mat bloemen en een omgevallen pot verf. Wat zou het leuk zijn zo’n kunstwerkje in huis te hebben.... Als je blij wordt van deze foto’s vergeet dan niet om even in Anna’s shop te kijken. Naast de kussens, kan Anna ook een van haar ontwerpen op je favoriete (jeans) jasje maken, zoals je hier op Instagram kunt zien. Ik ben verliefd....

How happy I am when a new interior shop opens it’s doors!

In a loft filled with beautiful design like MENU and Studio Henk, Fort M in The Hague is a real must vist!

Beautiful styled, with lots of green plants and warm coloured walls, the shop is a great place of inspiration. What I like most is the wall with all kind of materials which can be chosen while buying a new couch or table.. Not a tiny piece of cloth to choose for your couch, but almost a square meter, so you really can see and imagine how your new chair or couch will look. The owners are very kind and tell you all the stories about their shop and furniture. While you are wondering and wandering around and get inspired by the stylish corners of the shop, they make you a cup of coffee,

So if you want to go shopping in The Hague, make sure to visit Fort M!

Ik ben altijd weer blij als er een nieuwe interieur winkel zijn deuren opent! In een loft, gevuld met geweldig design van MENU en StudioHenk, is Fort M echt een aanwinst voor Den Haag. Gewedlig gestyled, vol met groene planten en warm gekleurde muren is deze winkel en acht een bron van inspiratie. Wat ik het leukste vind is dat er een hele muur is met allerlei soorten materialen die je kunt gebruiken om de kleur en materiaal van je ideale bank of tafel te kiezen. Niet een klein stukje stof uit een stalenboek waar je de bekleding voor je nieuwe stoel of bank kunt kiezen, maar bijna een vierkante meter, zodat je echt kunt zien hoe je nieuwe meubel eruit gaat zien. De eigenaren zijn super aardig en nemen alle tijd en moeite om je het verhaal over hun winkel en de ontwerpen te vertellen. Terwijl je door de winkel loopt om van al het moois te genieten, word je ook nog eens verwend met heerlijke koffie. Dus ben je in Den Haag om een dagje te shoppen, sla dan zeker Fort M niet over.

 

En lukt het niet om een dagje naar den haag te komen, in juli is de webshop online!
