This Christmas will be the first without my Dad...

And because I will be in Spain next week, I decided not to buy a Christmas tree this year (again).

But I love the smell of eucalyptus and pine in the house, so I was looking for a simple DIY. I saw a lot of Christmas wreaths, and decide to make a variation to this. 

So I bought a copper pipe and meters of dark green satin ribbon. The only thing you have to to do, is put the ribbon through the pipe and hang it at the wall. 

I added some pine and eucalyptus (best to first fasten them with some tape, so you can make the best composition, before you fasten them with some copper wire). 

Next to that I added some hyacinth bulbs (also with some copper wire). I am not sure if the bulbs will bloom, but I like them like this any way. 

Some stars and Christmas lights and my alternative Christmas tree was ready!

Dit wordt de eerste Kerst zonder mijn vader... En omdat ik dol ben op de geur van dennengroen en eucalyptus in huis, was ik op zoek naar een simpele DIY. Overal zie je prachtige kerstkransen, dus daar bedacht ik een variatie op. Ik kocht een koperen buis bij de bouwmarkt en meters glanzend groen satijnen lint. Het enige wat je hoeft te doen, is het lint door de pijp te halen en het aan de muur op te hangen. Ik bevestigde er wat dennentakken en eucalyptus op (meet handige is om ze eerst even met wat tape vast te zetten totdat je de juiste compositie hebt. Die zet je dan vast met koper draad). Ook hing ik er wat hyacinten bollen aan (even omwikkelen met koperdraad en aan de buis bevestigen). Ik weet njet of de bollen nog gaan bloeien, maar zo vind ik ze ook al heel mooi. Wat sterren en kerstlichtjes en mijn alternatieve kerstboom was klaar!

Weatherd walls, frosted green and lots of white....That makes a magical minimalistic Christmas! 

 Love this beautiful industrial rooms with just a touch of green and lots of white candles. The green velvet couch is really my favourite! Would love to have one like this and enjoy my Christmas in my most favourite way: just a pyjama day with a warm blanket, nice book, some Audrey Hepburn films and a glass of wine.

Verweerde muren, bevroren groen en heel veel wit... Ingrediënten voor een magische minimalistische kerstsfeer! Ik vind deze groene fluwelen bank echt een topper! Zo een zou ik er ook wel thuis willen hebben en van Kerst genieten op mijn favoriete manier: een pijama- dag met een warme deken, mooi boek, Audrey Hepburn films en een glas rode wijn.

How I love the smell of Eucalyptus....

The soft velvet leaves in beautiful shapes, are my favourites greens for December. But how great is this DIY! Just like greens, December is full of candles, so why not mix it with Eucalyptus in this creative way.

Ik ben dol op de geur van verse Eucalyptus. De zacht grijs-groene bladeren, met hun mooie vormen, zijn mijn favorieten voor een grien Kerst. Maar wat geweldig om er deze DIY mee te maken! Net als veel groen, is December ook vol kaarsen, dus waarom zou je er niet zo'n mooi statement voor op je kersttafel mee maken.

December has started, so time to decorate our homes for Christmas.

As always, I am inspired by minimalistic Christmas decorations, like stars and greens. That's why this beautiful Danish Christmas home caught my eye. My home will be decorated in a similar way, but I am still thinking of adding a little Christmas tree this year...

December is begonnen, dus het is weer tijd om onze huizen te versieren voor Kerst. Zoals altijd word ik geïnspireerd door minimalistische Kerst versiering met sterren en dennengroen. Dat is waarom ik meteen enthousiast werd over dit mooie Deense kersthuis. Hier thuis vind je vergelijkbare kerstversiering, maar ik twijfel nog steeds over een klein Kerstboompje dit jaar...
