¡A stylish grey AirBnB in Riga!

About a year ago, I got inspired by the beautiful art, design and beautiful architecture of Riga (Latvia). So when my best friend and I decides to have a city trip, Riga was the first choice.

When I make a city trip with friend, I like to stay in an AirBnB, because it feel likes living in the city, instead of being a tourist. How happy when I discovered this beautiful grey apartment in one of the most trendy parts of Riga. The apartment is owned by the very friendly and hospitable Elina.

Formerly the apartment was an office, but interior and styling addict Elina transformed it to a stylish and cosy place to stay in her favourite colour grey The sleeping rooms are very relaxing (even they are at the street level). One of them has a beautiful brick wall and the appartment had beautiful minimalistic furniture We enjoyed to come home here after days of strolling around the city centre. The city centre is about a 20 minutes walk, but there is a trolley bus stop just in front of the apartment. But we liked the district around the apartment even better. Just one block away there is the inspiring Miera Isla, with a great coffee roasters, chocolate factory, pop up & concept stores and some great restaurants and beer brewery in beautiful Industrial buildings.

We just had breakfast at home, and since Latvian food is delicious (and we were luckily that it was Restaurant week) it isn’t any problem that the apartment hasn’t a kitchen.

Ongeveer een jaar geleden werd ik geïnspireerd door door het prachtige design, kunst en mooie gebouwen in Riga (Letland). Dus toen ik besloot om met mij beste vriendin een city trip te maken, was Riga eerste keus. Als ik een city trip maak met vrienden, verblijf ik het liefst in een AirBnB. Het voelt alsof je gewoon in de stad woont in plaats van toerist te zijn. Wat was ik blij toen ik dit mooie grijze appartement in een van de mest trendy wijken van Riga ontdekte. Het appartement is de enorm vriendelijke en gastvrije Elina. Nog geen jaar geleden was het appartement een kantoorpand, maar interieur en styling minnende Elina veranderde het in een stijlvolle en gezellige plek in haar favoriete kleur grijs. De slaapkamers stralen rust en stilte uit (ondanks dat het appartement aan een doorgaande straat ligt). Een an de slaapkamers heeft een prachtige stenen muur en het appartement is minimalistisch gemeubileerd. Heerlijk om hier thuis te komen na een dag sjouwen door de stad. Het oude stadscentrum is ongeveer 20 minuten lopen van het appartement, maar de trolley bus stopt recht voor de deur. Wij vonden de wijk waar het appartement in ligt eigenlijk veel leuker dan de oude stad. Slechts 1 blok verder is de hippe Miera Isla, een straat met een fijne coffee branderij, chocolade museum, pop up en concept stores en een aantal geweldige restaurants en een bierbrouwerij in geweldige industriële gebouwen. Wij ontbeten alleen thuis en genoten van de heerlijke Letse keuken (en het was nog restaurant week ook) dus het was voor ons geen enkel probleem dat het appartement geen keuken heeft.  That Green plants matches with almost everything in every location, shows these beautiful pictures of SIX in Milan! In the city centre you can find this Gallery, Bistro an Design Boutique where green plants bring painted grey brick walls to life. Next to green plants, wood and rattan gives this place its warm and sophisticated atmosphere. A really magical place... And must visit if you are going to the Salone del Mobile in April.

Hier brengen groene planten de grijs geverfde stenen muren tot leven. Naast groene planten, brengen hout en rotan warmte en een stijlvolle sfeer. Echt een magische plek... Weatherd walls, frosted green and lots of white....That makes a magical minimalistic Christmas! 

 Love this beautiful industrial rooms with just a touch of green and lots of white candles. The green velvet couch is really my favourite! Would love to have one like this and enjoy my Christmas in my most favourite way: just a pyjama day with a warm blanket, nice book, some Audrey Hepburn films and a glass of wine.

Verweerde muren, bevroren groen en heel veel wit... Ingrediënten voor een magische minimalistische kerstsfeer! Ik vind deze groene fluwelen bank echt een topper! Zo een zou ik er ook wel thuis willen hebben en van Kerst genieten op mijn favoriete manier: een pijama- dag met een warme deken, mooi boek, Audrey Hepburn films en een glas rode wijn.

These days it's cold and grey...

Suddenly it feels like winter. And since November has started, it's time to get some Christmas inspiration. Normally I can't wait till November and start my Christmas inspiration as soon as the days are getting shorter. But this year I wasn't inspired at all. With these colder days, ideas start bubbling, especially when I saw the IKEA Vinter collection. 

I think this will be a starry Christmas at my home with some natural accents...

Het is weer koud en grijs november weer deze dagen... Dan voelt het ineens weer als winter. En omdat November gestart is, wordt het ook weer tijd voor Kerst inspiratie normaal beginnen bij mij de Kerst kriebels als de dagen korter worden. Maar dit jaar wilde dat gevoel maar niet komen. Totdat het ineens weer kouder werd; nu begint de inspiratie te stromen. Helemaal toen ik de Vinter collectie van IKEA zag. Ik denk dat het dit jaar een kerst met sterren en natuurlijke materialen gaat worden bij mij in huis...

With a few days of rain and clouds, we are waiting for the Summer to come back again. But the interior brands are starting to show their Autumn collections. One of the first is H&M home. A beautiful collection where they mix black, white and wood with a touch of warm ocre yellow. Mixed with some greys and concrete is gives a beautiful natural look. How about this colour scheme at your home?

Met alweer een paar dagen regen en veel bewolking, kijkt iedereen weer uit naar het terugkomen van de de zomer. Maar de interieur merken zijn al weer druk bezig met het laten zien van hun Herfst collectie. Een van de eersten is H&M home. Een mooie collectie waarin zwart, wit en blank hout gecombineerd worden met warm okergeel. Gecombineerd met grijs en beton een prachtige naturel look. Living in just one room is always a challenge...

Sleeping, eating and working, all the functions needs their space... 

But IKEA succeeded to combine all these functions in just a lovely way and colour scheme! How I love the natural and white colours and the beautiful furniture. By choosing just one colour scheme, the room looks bright and spacey, even when it's filled with lots of stuff.

It's has been years ago since I had a one bedroom apartment, but when I see this, I would love to move in!

Wonen in een een kamer appartement is een uitdaging... Slapen, eten en werken, alle functies hebben ruimte nodig. IKEA lukte het om al deze functies in een ruimte te combineren in een werkelijk prachtig kleuren schema. Wat vind ik de naturellen en wit tinten en de meubels mooi! Door het kiezen van een kleuren pallet, ziet de kamer er fris en ruimtelijk uit, alhoewel er heel wat spullen in staan. Het is jaren geleden dat ik in een een kamer appartement woonde, maar als ik dit zie, wil ik zo verhuizen!

Not only at the garden, but also at home bamboo gives a warm atmosphere. How I love the new designed shelfs Svalnas by IKEA. While the design has a sixties touch, the warm bamboo gives this shelves a trendy look. Just mixed with some greys, whites and glass and you have a real piece of art at the wall.

Niet alleen in de tuin, maar ook in huis geeft bamboe een warme sfeer. Wat vind ik het nieuwe Svalnas rek van IKEA een aanwinst. Het ontwerp heeft een sixties look, maar het bamboe geeft dit rek een trendy uitstraling. Simpel gemixt met wit, grijstinten en glas heb je een echt kunstwerk aan de muur!

I really love to cook especially when it's in an industrial kitchen where beautiful black, greys and wood make a warm atmosphere. This kitchen styled by the talented a Hans Blomquist for IKEA, has it all. He made a beautiful Moodboard and translated this into an unque kitchen. The most special in this kitchen is the use of greens. Not only vegetables, but also greens at the wall. And if you need an extra chair, just put it on the wall.

Ik vind het heerlijk om te koken, helemaal als het in een mooie industriële keuken is, waar mooi zwart, grijstinten en hout een warme sfeer creëeren. Deze keuken, gestyled door Hans Blomquist voor IKEA heeft het allemaal. Hij creëerde een prachtig moodboard en vertaalde het naar een unieke keuken. Het gebruiken groen is het meest opvallen in deze keuken. Niet alleen groenten, maar ook groene planten aan de muur. En heb je een extra stoel nodig? Ze hangen gewoon aan de muur.
